Lupo Artists

Diversity is the key to the set of Lupo Entertainment artists. One thing in common is their belief in a long-term career; they all write the majority of their songs, and all believe in the power of performance.

LO-STAR
For sensational London rockers LO-STAR – the future is now, and the sky is the limit. After learning about the band that the BBC says "follows in the best stadium-filling traditions of Radiohead and U2," the legendary producer of The Police personally sought out to record Lo-Star. Now, this next generation rock band is poised to take its place in the ranks of the world's greatest performers.

Even before they've released a note of music, the traffic-stopping five piece shut down Camden High Street with a powerful rooftop performance that attracted more than 2,500 fans. However, for Lo-Star, collaborating with Hugh Padgham—best known for his extended collaborations with Sting, Phil Collins, The Police, and Genesis that spawned blockbuster albums including Collins’ No Jacket Required (12x platinum); The Police’s Synchronicity (8x platinum); and Genesis’ Invisible Touch (6x platinum) and singles "Every Breath You Take" and "In The Air Tonight" that have sold more than 250 million units worldwide—was a different kind of experience altogether.

"It was a little bit like sleeping with someone for the first time with a room full of people watching," says Lo-Star's Adam Harris. "It was new territory for us—playing new songs in a very intimate environment—and it's not every day you go into a studio with your favorite producer who has produced your favorite albums," the lead singer says, adding that the initial recording sessions were a little reserved, but admits, “We're not very good at being reserved.”

The band quickly relaxed and "so did Hugh," says Harris, when "we reverted to our normal ways of cracking filthy one-liners." Padgham eventually surprised the band by "cracking filthier one-liners than us." The result was a loose environment that allowed the band—Adam, Ric Albert, Brett Lemmon, James Sanford, and Joel Clempson (son of Clem Clempson from Humble Pie, who joins Lo-Star on the exquisite "Next Time Around")—to delve deep into their rich musical rapport and shared personal history to deliver a collection of epic, personally-charged rock songs that are set to resonate with all who hear them.

"It's quite rare that you can recreate the excitement of playing your first song, or your best gig, but working with Hugh has brought that excitement within the band since we started recording with him," says Harris. "He’s guided us in such a way that we don’t recognize when he’s doing it, but his supernatural ability to hear the most minute detail and trademark production has been the perfect combination with our music."

With Padgham guiding them, Lo-Star’s debut (working title) Closer To The Sun promises to shake up the musical landscape, introducing a blend of runaway-train energy, pointedly thoughtful lyrical attitude, and a remarkably fresh take on traditional guitar-rock dynamics. As the Guardian observed, "Lo-Star’s music is elegant, vicious, and downright hypnotic in equal parts, with a song to match every mood." The new band-penned material encompasses a broad range of stylistic elements and lyrical moods, from the shimmering guitars and anthemic rush of "Vanished World" to the infectious "Won't Be Your Enemy" with its ringing guitars to the soul-searching groove of "Hear Me Lord" to the swaggering throb of "Make Some Difference" to the aching chord changes of "Drifting" to the dreamy desolation of "Mexico." It's a gorgeous coda to what will undoubtedly be regarded as one of the key recordings of the year.

Anchoring it all together is Harris’ powerful voice. As immediate as it is undeniable, its power is matched only by his singular, Force 10 personality. "We want to set ourselves that little bit apart from everyone else. I think we realized pretty early on what we might be able to achieve," the singer notes. "We would finish rehearsals with these big grins on our faces. We took our time because we’re all perfectionists and we weren’t going to settle for less than the best."

Lo-Star is set to begin recording its debut album with Hugh Padgham in August 2009. Stay tuned for more information. Release dates will be forthcoming.

LAUREN MAYHEW

When you've been a member of a pop rock band that toured with both Britney Spears and Destiny's Child (to name just two), interviewed Hollywood’s best and most famous entertainers on a nationally-syndicated TV show, and starred in one of the most wildly successful comedy movie franchises of all-time, where do you go from there? For multi-faceted and multi-talented LAUREN MAYHEW, the answer lies in a single word – UP.

Today, Lauren is one of the stars of the upcoming MTV series, Private High Musical (2010), described as "High School Musical with a wink and a nod to the 18-34 demographic." Ashton Kutcher chose Lauren as the voice of Britney for his animated series, Blah, Blah, Blah. She has started working on her solo material with some of the music industry's most talented producers, and she regularly performs to enthusiastic crowds at Hollywood's hottest clubs.

Lauren's new music, which she co-writes, has been featured on MTV's The Hills and several movie soundtracks. Described as two parts dance-pop, one part electro-pop, and one part rock with a splash of disco, Lauren's music has had dance floors rocking with its fun, L.A., celebratory vibe. "As much as I love acting, I have to say, that there is nothing like performing live."

Of course, nothing's stopping Lauren from succeeding at both. Her first national break came with a starring role on the soap opera Guiding Light, where she played Marah Lewis for two years. However, it was her role as front woman for pop quartet PYT that really thrust her into the spotlight.

Signed by her 13th birthday to Epic Records, Lauren started PYT with three of her friends, touring the world with 'N Sync, Destiny’s Child, 98 Degrees, and Britney Spears. "It was absolutely unbelievable; there is really no experience that is quite like it," says Lauren.

PYT's hectic travel schedule did not leave much time for acting, so she said good-bye to the cast of Guiding Light and headed out on tour with the group. The band charted two Billboard singles and was featured on soundtracks such as Miss Congeniality; Bring It On and Center Stage. Lauren appeared in major music videos with Mandy Moore and Faith Hill as well as two videos of her own with PYT.

She even performed at Super Bowl XXXV alongside Britney Spears, Sting, and Aerosmith. "The Super Bowl was crazy, and that’s by far the biggest audience I’ve ever performed for. There were 80,000 people in the stands alone."

After Lauren left PYT, she moved to Hollywood, where she has become one of Tinseltown's fastest rising stars. Lauren made her big screen debut in New Line Cinema’s Raise Your Voice, starring as Hilary Duff’s arch-rival Robin, a role that allowed her to transform into a cynical and malicious diva – quite a departure for fans who knew her as the sweet and bubbly host of talk shows like Real Access and Access Hollywood.

Her outstanding performance caught the attention of Universal Pictures, who immediately cast her in American Pie: Band Camp as "Arriana" the lust of Matt Stifler's life. She has guest starred on hit shows such as: CSI, CSI Miami, Law & Order, Joan of Arcadia, Medical Investigations, and was recurring on NBC's drama American Dreams, while attending college full-time. Now a UCLA graduate, Lauren can add another thing to her impressive resume.

LAUREN MAYHEW can be seen in the upcoming feature film FRAT PARTY by Overture Pictures, the upcoming series PRIVATE HIGH MUSICAL (60 Frames/MTV), and her music can be heard on many television shows and film soundtracks. She recently opened for KATY PERRY.
